THE KEY TO BETTER HEALTH COULD BE RIGHT UNDER YOUR TOES

What do my feet have to do with it?

Your feet have a direct impact on the rest of your body. Like the foundation of a house, your feet support the weight of everything above them.  When a small problem develops in your feet, a subtle change in the way you walk will cause a chain reaction in your posture.  These changes can put stress on joints higher up in your body that may lead to secondary problems.

A custom orthotic from The Orthotic Group (TOG) will help reduce pain and discomfort by enhancing your body’s natural movements.  In close partnership with your health care practitioner, TOG designs custom orthotics that are made for your unique needs and add to your general well-being.

How do I know I have a problem?

  • Localized foot pain
  • Bunions
  • Hammer toes
  • Arch pain
  • Heel pain
  • Knee pain
  • Hip or low back pain

What Should I do?

Talk with your health care practitioner about the symptoms you are experiencing. After an examination and gait analysis, your health care practitioner will discuss whether your feet are contributing to your problems.  Asking if your feet could be a part of the cause is a great first step!

What are custom orthotics?

A custom orthotic is a device designed to align the foot and ankle into the most anatomically efficient position. They look like insoles but are biomechanical medical appliances that are custom made to correct your specific foot imbalance. Custom orthotics work on your feet much like glasses work on your eyes – they reduce stress and strain on your body by bringing your feet back into proper alignment. The plastic body of the custom orthotic helps to realign the foot by redirecting and reducing certain motion that takes place during the gait cycle. Custom orthotics fit into your shoes as comfortably as an insole – and they have the advantage of having been made from precise imprints of your feet.

How do they help?

Custom orthotics help your body restore a natural balance and normal movement patterns, thereby reducing pain and discomfort.

The Orthotic Group designs innovative and comfortable orthotics that are a pleasure to wear.  Our orthotics gently assist in reducing problems associated with pressure points, muscle strains and abnormal forces on the feet, ankles, knees, hips, and spine.

Over time, custom orthotics prescribed by your health care practitioner will bring you relief from fatigue and pain allowing you to enjoy daily activities once again.

Should I  wear my orthotics all the time?

The longer you wear your custom orthotics the more benefit you will get out of them. If your daily activities vary to the extent that you change your footwear, then you should have a second pair of custom orthotics designed for that specific activity. (i.e. going to the gym after work)
